A second US Air Force combat aircraft crashed in the Persian Gulf region on Friday, local media reported. Citing two US officials, The New York Times reported that the lone pilot of the A-10 Warthog was safely rescued. The A-10 attack plane went down near the Strait of Hormuz at around the same time that an Air Force F-15E was shot down over Iran, the officials said, per the report. Earlier, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt had told CNN that President Donald Trump had been briefed on a US fighter jet shot down over Iran, later identified as an F-15E Strike Eagle.
