The United States on Wednesday urged all Sudanese parties to “meet their obligations to ensure unhindered access for humanitarian assistance”, welcoming a decision to extend the opening of the Adre border crossing with Chad. The call was made in a statement posted on the X platform by Massad Boulos, the US President’s adviser for Arab and African affairs. Sudan’s humanitarian crisis has worsened due to a war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces that began in April 2023 over a dispute about unifying the military institution.
