African security council urges Israel to withdraw recognition of Somaliland

The African Union’s Peace and Security Council has called for the “immediate revocation” of Israel’s ⁠recognition of Somaliland, saying the move violates the sovereignty and territorial unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. In a statement posted on X on Tuesday after a ministerial meeting, the council strongly condemned what it described as Israel’s “unilateral recognition of the so-called Republic of Somaliland”. The council said it firmly rejects any actions that could undermine the unity of African states or affect their internationally recognised borders.
