Josh Lees, a rally organizer, estimated crowds of “about 40,000 here in Sydney, 50 or 60,000 in Melbourne, 10,000 in Hobart, thousands in Perth and Brisbane and everywhere else.” In Brisbane, police put the turnout at 10,000, while organizers claimed closer to 50,000. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is determined to push forward with the reoccupation of Gaza, with security sources warning that the absence of such an offensive could accelerate the collapse of his government, Israeli media reported Saturday, Anadolu reports. The daily Maariv cited an unnamed military source saying Netanyahu is “insisting on moving forward with the offensive Gideon’s Chariots 2.” The source added: “He understands that without the operation, he will not be able to maintain government cohesion and it will fall apart.” Far-right ministers, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, have threatened to withdraw from Netanyahu’s coalition if he agrees to any deal to halt the ongoing Israeli military offensive in Gaza, now approaching […]

Eight more Palestinians, including two children, died from malnutrition caused by the Israeli blockade in Gaza over the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll to 281 since the onset of the humanitarian crisis, local sources reported on Saturday, Anadolu reports. Munir al-Bursh, the director general of Gaza’s Health Ministry, said on the US social media company X that among the victims, 114 are children. “The famine is silently ravaging the bodies of civilians, depriving children of their right to life, and turning tents and hospitals into daily scenes of tragedy,” he added. Israel has killed nearly 62,300 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International […]

Israeli forces on Saturday extended their assault on the West Bank town of Al Mughayyir into the third day, raiding homes, arresting residents, and bulldozing farmland, according to witnesses and Palestinian officials, Anadolu reports. Local activist Mohammed Abu Alia said troops stormed more than 30 houses, ransacked belongings, and fired tear gas inside one residence. He added that soldiers seized vehicles, money and jewelry, while barring residents and journalists from entering the town. Many families have been stranded outside since Thursday, he said. Bulldozers were also seen clearing land to make way for a new settler road through the town’s eastern outskirts, uprooting hundreds of trees in the process. The Palestinian Land Defense and Settlement Resistance Commission said a military order […]

Lebanon, a country with a complex social and political structure, has once again come under external and diplomatic pressures. The issue of disarming Hezbollah has, more than ever, become an international concern and is being intensely debated in both domestic and foreign political circles. This project, pursued with the support of the United States and some of its regional and Western allies, has been raised at a time when parts of Lebanese territory remain under Israeli occupation, and the Lebanese army, due to financial and logistical weakness, lacks the necessary capacity to fill the potential defence vacuum resulting from Hezbollah’s disarmament. This situation has led many analysts to ask: does the disarmament of Hezbollah mean strengthening Lebanon’s stability, or, on […]

The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) on Saturday urged Israel to stop denying responsibility for the famine it caused in the Gaza Strip and called on influential states to act immediately to end the crisis, Anadolu reports. “It’s time for the Government of Israel to stop denying the famine it has created in Gaza,” Philippe Lazzarini said on US social media platform X. “All of those who have influence must use it with determination and a sense of moral duty. Despite months of negotiations, countless documents exchanged, and shuttle diplomacy stretching from Cairo to Doha to Washington and back, the war in Gaza—now entering its 22nd month—shows no signs of resolution. The question looms larger than ever: Why has Israel been unable to bring this war, which began on October 7, 2023, to a definitive close? As Israel plunged deeper into its military campaign, diplomatic efforts began to sketch out visions for what many called “the day after”—a post-war Gaza. Yet none of these proposals have materialised into a viable plan. Israel lacks a realistic, achievable, and regionally or internationally acceptable framework for governing Gaza once the fighting stops. Even within Israeli society, there is no consensus on what a […]

Legal Action for Peace, an organisation of lawyers and human rights advocates who challenge anti-Muslim hatred and anti-Arab discrimination, has written to the Charity Commission to raise serious concerns over its discriminatory conduct during its investigation into the Abdullah Quilliam Society. LAFP’s complaint follows two letters sent to the Charity from the Commission on 15 July and 5 August 2025 regarding statements made by Ajmal Masroor criticising Israel which the Commission deemed to be “divisive and inflammatory” a position the LAFP strongly refutes, citing several international legal precedents, human rights reports, and United Nations findings that support such descriptions of Israel as being an ‘apartheid,’ ‘racist’ and ‘settler-colonial’ state. Concerns over discrimination and free speech In its letter, LAFP alleges […]

The UK warned on Friday that time is running out to reach a diplomatic agreement with Iran on its nuclear program, as talks with European and US partners continue, Anadolu reports. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said Britain remained committed to diplomacy but was prepared to pursue sanctions if no progress was made. In a post on US social media platform X, Lammy said he had spoken by phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and European partners to “reiterate concerns about Iran’s nuclear program.” “We are committed to diplomacy, but time is short.
