Palestine has welcomed the decision of the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly to extend the mandate of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) until 30 June 2029. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the decision was adopted by the committee responsible for special political questions and decolonisation. The committee expressed its regret that Palestinian refugees have not been able to return to their homes or receive compensation, noting that their situation “remains a matter of deep concern”.
