The United States government, under President Donald Trump, has imposed sanctions on Colombian President Gustavo Petro, accusing him of failing to curb drug trafficking. The US Treasury Department announced the sanctions on October 24, 2025, under Executive Order 14059, which targets individuals linked to narcotics operations.
