The Israeli army is building a new separation barrier deep inside the northern Jordan Valley, at least 12 kilometres west of the Jordanian border. The project is expected to separate Palestinian villages from their farmland and cut links between them, following a pattern similar to the separation wall in the occupied West Bank. According to Haaretz, the project has entered advanced stages. It includes a section about 22 kilometres long and 50 metres wide in the northern Jordan Valley.  The report states that the army plans to demolish all structures and infrastructure that lie along the planned route.
